EuropaCat-2025, held in Trondheim, Norway—an internationally prestigious conference recognized as one of the most important events in the field of catalysis. During the event, Dr. Manoj B. Gawande had the opportunity to attend a series of inspiring plenary and keynote lectures delivered by globally renowned catalysis experts. Notable sessions included outstanding presentations by Prof.. François Jérôme, Prof.. Jan-Dierk Grunwaldt, and Prof. Bert M. Weckhuysen, whose cutting-edge talks covered a wide spectrum of catalytic science. Topics of high relevance included: Catalysis in biomass conversion and sustainable chemical transformations, Dynamics in catalysis: from atomic-level structure to reactor-scale behaviour, Spatial and temporal exploration of heterogeneous catalysts using operando spectroscopy, Advances in fine chemical synthesis and green catalysis pathways.
Dr. Manoj B. Gawande also presented the group’s latest research on Single-Atom Catalysis (SACs). On 6th August, Dr. M. B. Gawande delivered an invited talk entitled “Cutting-Edge Catalysis: Unveiling the Power of Emerging Single-Atom Materials” at VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava. The event was organized by Prof. Zboril in collaboration with delegates from IIT Indore. The talk highlighted the transformative potential of single-atom catalysts in advancing catalytic science and fostering international research collaborations. This interaction marks an important step toward strengthening ties between global research communities.
Following a successful tenure since June 2023, Dr. Manoj B. Gawande has been reappointed as a Visiting Professor at the Centre for Energy and Environmental Technologies (CEET), Nanotechnology Centre, VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava. Dr. Gawande’s continued association with CEET and Prof. Radek Zboril underscores the strength of the collaboration between the Institute of Chemical Technology, Marathwada Campus, Jalna (ICT MARJ), India, and leading European research institutions. His
reappointment is expected to further accelerate joint research in the cutting-edge domain of single-atom catalysis, fostering innovation and academic exchange between ICT MARJ and European partners.
We are pleased to welcome Mr. Tejas Kapadnis as a new PhD student in our research group. He completed his M.Sc. in Chemistry in 2023 from Dr. B. A. M. University, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Tejas served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Vinayakrao Patil Mahavidyalaya, Vaijapur during the 2024–2025 academic year. His research interests span organic synthesis, single-atom catalysis, and nanocatalysis and its applications. We’re excited to work with him and look forward to his contributions.

Dr. M.B. Gawande delivered a series of expert lectures on advanced nanostructured catalysts and their diverse applications to undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as faculty members of the university.In addition to his academic engagements, Dr. Gawande will also focus on enhancing bilateral research collaborations with Professor Yifeng Wang and his team. This collaboration aims to promote high-impact research in catalysis and material science, aligning with global efforts to develop greener chemical processes.
We are delighted to announce that Arun Kute has successfully defended his Ph.D. (Sci) – Chemistry thesis titled “Synthesis and Applications of Carbon-based Nanocatalysts and Single Atom Catalysts” under the guidance of Prof. Manoj Bhanudas Gawande.
The open defence was held on July 1, 2025, at ICTMARJ Auditorium. Congratulations to Dr. Arun Kute on this significant achievement and best wishes for his future endeavors!

Presented by Prof. (Dr.) S. T. Mhaske and Prof. Smita Lele, this award recognizes his outstanding research, academic excellence, and contributions to the institution and society.
As part of the Scientific Social Responsibility (SSR) initiative under the DST-SERB-funded project (CRG/2021/001738), Dr. Manoj B. Gawande successfully organized a Student Visit Program at the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) Marathwada Campus, Jalna. The event was aimed at fostering scientific curiosity and providing exposure to state-of-the-art research infrastructure among undergraduate and postgraduate students in the field of chemistry.
A total of 58 students from Department of Chemistry, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU), Aurangabad, and J.D Patil Sangludkar Mahavidyalaya (JDPSM), Amravati participated in this educational visit.
Our group is interested in developing novel nanomaterials that can employ in the advanced catalytic, photocatalytic, organic and energy (gas phase reactions and electrocatalysis) applications. We are also interested in the synthesis of industrial important organic intermediates and biologically active molecules.
